Remember, you are probably set up so anybody can read your blog.
What I've done on my blogs is- on the dashboard- choose 'settings' and then, on the 'settings' page, choose 'comments', and then, choose to have all comments moderated. This means you have to check your blog regularly to see if there are any comments to moderate, but makes it possible to delete unsightly spam comments before they disfigure your blog.
